Although seemingly impossible Evelio was able to

" dream the impossible dream, to fight the unbeatable foe"

He followed his quest,

a pursuit of justice and democracy

He followed his star

" No matter how seemingly impossible, no matter how far"

He fought

"for the right without question or pause"

He was willing to

"march into hell for a heavenly cause"

Through his convictions and his service to the Filipino people, Evelio lived up to the ideal of a true Filipino.

He was truly a MAN FOR OTHERS.

The assasination shows what a desperate regime, and its even more desperate followers will do to stay in power.

By choice, Javier was Antique’s Don Quixote. He is a man of impossible dreams looking forward that one day vicious cycle of poverty and ignorance among Filipinos will finally be broken. He always taught people especially the poor and ignorant the ability to dream and develop capabilities to fulfill those dreams. He has dedicated his service in the government to the development and strengthening of human resources.

Evelio might have died frustrated, for he has not seen his dreams fulfilled, but his death gave light to the dawn of democracy – THE PEACEFUL EDSA REVOLUTION.

Javier left us the legacy to

"REACH IMPOSSIBLE DREAMS EVEN AGAINST UNBEATABLE FOES."

Evelio B. Javier, Antique's hero, gave his life not just for the Antiquenos but to the peace and freedom loving Filipinos who shed tears, said fervent prayers and sent marchers to EDSA to topple a dictatorship and eventually restore a long-dreamt democracy.

The cold-blooded murder of Evelio Javier former governor of Antique gave us the courage to proclaim that Filipinos are peace loving people.

Javier was murdered in broad daylight at age of 43, in front of the provincial capitol of Antique safe-guarding the votes of his beloved fellow Antiquenos, who, defying the dark forces let loose in their hapless province, gave expression to their collective voice that they had enough of the regime holding sway over this cherished land.
